DJI T40 vs T50: A Comprehensive Drone Comparison

July 9, 2024

WHILE SIMILAR, there are five key FEATURES that set the T50 and T40 APART.

Whether you’re an experienced drone operator or just starting out, gaining a thorough understanding of the differences between drone models is crucial for making informed purchasing and business decisions. This blog will help you understand the key differences between two leading spray drone models on the market: the DJI T40 and DJI T50.

To gain a deeper understanding of each drone and their unique features, we highly recommend watching our comparison video

The DJI T50 was developed leveraging the success of its predecessor, the DJI T40. Although they share many similar features, there are five key distinctions that set them apart. Let’s explore these differences in detail to help you choose the model that best fits your business.

1. PROPELLER COLOR
The most obvious difference between the T50 and T40 is the color of the propellers, with the T40 featuring black props and the T50 featuring a new, white design. While the color is different, there does not appear to be any changes in performance between the T40 and T50.

2. RADAR SYSTEM AND VISION SENSORS

The T50 includes a new, larger radar at the front of the drone, a second set of binocular vision sensors, and a backwards and downward-facing radar to assist with terrain follow and obstacle avoidance.

3. SPRAY LANCES AND SOLONOIDS

Both models utilize a spinner disk style for their spray lances, however, the T50 introduces a solenoid to its design, which helps prevent dripping and sharpens the lines in no-spray zones which can be seen on As Applied Maps created from AcreConnect™

4. ELECTRONIC SPEED CONTROLS (ESCs)

While both drones use the same propulsion motors, the T50’s Electronic Speed Controls (ESCs), which power the motors, are larger and have a greater surface area, aiding in heat dissipation.

5. PUMP SIZE AND FLOW RATE

Lastly, the T50 features a slightly larger pump. Although the pump motor is identical to the T40 and both are impeller-driven, the T50’s larger pump allows for a higher flow rate.

In conclusion, the DJI T40 remains a solid choice for spray drone users, but the DJI T50 does offer a few enhancements that make it a strong contender for your next drone purchase.
