XAG Spray Drones: P150 vs. P100 Pro

February 12, 2025

WHICH SPRAY DRONE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Spray drones continue to quickly advance in speed, tank capacity and performance. Each season we see big leaps in capability. Last year we evaluated DJI’s T50 vs the T40.  This year we’re excited about the new XAG P150 spray drone introduced in December 2024. We’re impressed with its performance and thrilled to have recently added this new spray drone to our equipment portfolio for the 2025 season. We’re also excited to fly it in our own regional spray hub locations this year.

Interested to see how it stacks up against the P100 Pro?

With maximum flight speeds of 30-plus miles-per-hour and an 18.5-gallon tank, the XAG P150 is the largest and fastest spray drone currently available on the market. We also wanted to know about features that make the drone easy to use and safe to operate.

We asked our team of spray drone experts, operators, and agronomists to test out the new XAG P150 against its predecessor, the XAG P100 Pro.

Here’s what they shared.

EASIER TO USE NEW REMOTE CONTROL

The new P150 remote control has the XAG One application built directly into it. Unlike the P100 Pro, you no longer need an external device (smartphone or tablet) with the application (XAG One) to operate the remote control. The connection between the remote control and drone has greatly improved with this new P150 capability.

IMPROVED DRONE SIGNAL STRENGTH

The P150’s new SRC4 smart remote controller has an increased range of 2,000 meters. This is compared to the previous ARC 3 used on the P100 Pro, which only had a 1,000-meter range. Even at longer distances, the P150’s capabilities remain strong.

IMPROVED CAMERA

Along with its improved connectivity, the P150 features an improved camera that supports better control of the drone and enhanced connectivity. Often, our team found the P100 Pro would lose connectivity and the camera would go to a black screen or lag. This made our team feel as if they were ‘flying blind.’

EASY SETUP, FEWER COMPONENTS

When it comes to drone activation and setup, the team found the P150 to be a much easier process. Because the P150 no longer requires an external device and application for the remote control, the setup and operational processes are streamlined.

The P100 Pro was designed to have a SIM card installed. Though it was not required, it was recommended, which made setup difficult. While the SIM card gave the drone direct access to the Internet, it was one more component you had to buy and install into the drone. You also had to configure it in the drone’s settings. This led to a longer setup process with increased potential for errors. The P150 has an improved design without the need for a SIM card.

IMPROVED LIQUID TANK FOR IN-FIELD EFFICIENCY AND CLEANING

The fill-thru cap and tank lid size have improved on the P150. The P150 cap allows operators to quickly and easily remove it. Operators no longer have to unscrew the lid while loading. This helps speed up the tank refill time. The larger tank lid size is especially useful if an operator has to pour chemical directly into the tank. It also allows for more access to the inside of the tank for rinsing or scrubbing it down when needed.

UPDATED APP

Along with the new XAG P150 came a recently updated XAG app. It now has imperial units (GPA, MPH, ft, etc.). This is an important update for operators as it is now more user-friendly and easier to navigate. Operators now don’t have to do any metric-to-imperial unit conversions; it’s already done for them. This minimizes the risk of a conversion mistake, which can be costly.

THE STATS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Drone / Specs XAG P150 XAG P100 Pro
Gallon Tank Capacity 18.5 13.2
Gal/Min Max Flow Volume 7.9 5.8
Spray Width 33' 33'
Pound Payload 154 110

OVERALL REACTIONS

“To summarize the P150 versus the P100 Pro in one word I would say is ‘confidence’,” says Danny Fobian, Customer Success Manager at Rantizo. “You feel a lot more confident flying the P150 as it is easier to use, and you can stay in control with much better signal strength and connection.”

Overall, the P150 is:

  • Easier to get set up and flying
  • Better remote control (RC) and RC to drone signal strength
  • Improved camera quality
  • Flies and turns efficiently
