Director of Operations

Rantizo is an agricultural drone pesticide application company with operations based in Iowa City, IA. Rantizo is the first company in the state of Iowa certified by the FAA to conduct agricultural product application via unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and the first company in the multiple states to be licensed to apply pesticides via UAV.

Rantizo won the AgLaunch Pitch Competition at the 2018 Farm & Gin Show in Memphis, TN, the 2019 Ag Innovation Competition at the Iowa Power Farming Show in Des Moines, IA, was named the hottest startup in Iowa by Clay & Milk in 2018, and has received media coverage from Forbes and 60 Minutes as well as local news outlets and numerous industry publications. 

We are seeking to hire a Director of Operations. The new team member will have primary company responsibility for the areas of finance and accounting, legal and compliance, licensing and regulatory, and day-to-day operational issues.   

Role Description


  • Perform budgeting, economic forecasting, scenario analysis, and enhancement of company business model
  • Develop pricing models and determine economic feasibility by product/service
  • Fulfill financial reporting, expense management, payroll, and other accounting and bookkeeping requirements
  • Prepare pitch decks, grant applications, and investor updates to advance public and private funding efforts
  • Ensure strict compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Coordinate all submissions for applicator licensing and pilot certification
  • Support application service contractors through onboarding and facilitation of customer billing processes
  • Serve as primary contact for all legal, insurance, accounting, tax, and banking partners
  • Establish and document company processes and procedures
  • Perform industry research and enable effective contractor acquisition strategies
  • Nurture manufacturing and supplier partnerships
  • Maintain positive business, customer, and regulatory relationships

  • Outstanding verbal / written communication skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail, workflow documentation, and process improvement skills
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to set priorities
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis and basic accounting principles
  • Agricultural background or relevant understanding of agronomy and crop care practices
  • Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software and productivity tools including Quickbooks
  • Ability to create and deliver client presentations
  • Occasional travel to support business outreach efforts
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
